Client: Lancaster and Morecambe College
Aquatect was commissioned by Lancaster and Morecambe College to undertake a complete refit of their aquatics facility. The aquatics room is used as a teaching facility catering to students studying Animal Care T Level courses.
The brief was to build and install a range of displays showcasing current industry standards. These standards were exceeded and we raised the bar in the process.
Marine drop off tank
The tank sits on a strong steel frame, powder coated in purple matching the customer’s request. The exterior is clad in waterproof solid grade laminate panelling in a smart light grey.
Fully controllable LED lighting ramps up in the morning and down in the evening giving sunrise and sunset. A clear acrylic sump enables viewing of the heater, protein skimmer, return pump and UV steriliser.
Amazon Display Tank
The 6 foot Amazon display boasts an incredible 3-D fibreglass tree background with live plants, on a powder coated steel frame with a very accessible sump.
Livestock racks
Two foot spacious racks house four 450L aquariums, all with euro-braced CNC’d lids with removable polycarbonate lid segment, offering full access with no crossbar in the way. A frosted vinyl graphic background was applied, giving a crisp, clean appearance to these tanks.
Terrapin tank
A rock themed terrapin tank completed the build, with a waterfall, live plants, dimmable LED lighting and a compact but accessible commercial filtration system.
The new tanks are already inspiring a future generation of fish keepers at Lancaster and
Morecambe College. Contact us to find out how we can elevate your aquatics teaching space.
